Dear Maryvale Community, There was an item in the news recently about a stranger approaching an individual in Cheektowaga, and it was reported that the stranger had negative intentions. Although not the same situation as that recent news report, an unknown person approached a student in our High School parking lot this week and asked for her phone number. We have no reason to believe that situation represents an ongoing threat and we continue to be vigilant about monitoring our buildings and grounds for unauthorized persons, including patrols from Officer Cookfair. But we want to remind all of the Maryvale Community that any situation involving an unknown person on or near our grounds talking to or attempting to talk to individuals should be reported to an administrator and/or Officer Cookfair immediately. Remember: If you see something, say something to a trusted adult- especially if it is an emergency. Additionally, our Maryvale CARE Line is another resource for anyone in our community to report potentially dangerous or harmful activity. You can reach the CARE line at 716-631-7449 during school hours or by email anytime at careline@maryvaleufsd.org Maryvale CARE Line

Dear Maryvale Community, New York State Assembly Bill A01279 would help local taxpayers bear the burden of the CVA. Kudos to Assembly Member Monica Wallace and Bill Conrad, who are co-sponsors of this Bill. We urge the New York State government to enact this to protect both local taxpayers and the Maryvale programs that we have worked so hard to build. Please contact our local NY State representatives to tell them how you feel about this Bill and to support our District as we fight to preserve our programs! Senator Tim Kennedy: Phone: 716-826-2683 Fax: 716-826-2793 kennedy@nysenate.gov Assembly Member Monica Wallace (co-sponsor of the bill): Cheektowaga, NY 14225 716-686-0080 Fax: 716-686-3752 wallacem@nyassembly.gov

Dear Maryvale Community, At approximately 1:25PM, we were notified by the Cheektowaga Police that they were searching for a suspect in the neighborhoods west of Union Road near the main campus. Out of an abundance of caution, we initiated a lockout of the Intermediate, Middle, and High Schools. A lockout means that all school operations run as normal inside the buildings, but no one is allowed in or out. The lockout was lifted at approximately, 1:50PM upon advice received from the Cheektowaga Police, Joseph D’Angelo Superintendent

We would like to give a very appreciative "Thank you" to our Director of Buildings and Grounds, Charlie Milne and our entire Buildings and Grounds staff for their tireless work in the aftermath of the Blizzard. If you saw the state of the main and Primary campuses, you would understand what these folks did to clear the snow and to first make our properties passable and then ultimately useable. We appreciate you and your dedication to the kids and our district!
