Global History and Geography I

40 weeks - 1 credit (School Exam)

Grades: 9

Prerequisite: 8th Grade Social Studies

The course will trace World History from the ancient world (4000 B.C.) to the Age of Revolution (1750).

Global History and Geography II

40 weeks - 1 credit (Regents Exam)

Grades: 10

Prerequisite: 9th Grade Social Studies

The second half of a two year course, Global 2 starts during the Age of Revolution (1750) and ends with current global issues.  This course culminates with a Global History Regents exam testing the two years - with emphasis in Geography

U.S. History and Government

40 weeks - 1 credit (Regents Exam)

Grades: 11

Prerequisite: Global Studies 2

Includes Constitutional foundation for the U.S. and U.S. History from 1865 - Present.

Participation in Government

20 weeks - ½ credit (School Exam)                                                                 

Grades: 12

Prerequisite: U.S. History and Government

The Participation in Government course will explore the student’s ability to get involved with public policies and the decision-making process.  Discussion and research into current and controversial issues is emphasized.  The course should question the students’ ability to deal with the public as educated participants in the government.

Economics

20 weeks - ½  credit (School Exam)

Grades: 12

Prerequisite: U. S. History and Government

A 20-week senior level course designed to give students the fundamentals in basic economics.  Units of study include Introduction to Economics, Macroeconomics, and the United States and the World Economy.
