What is your fondest Maryvale memory or Tradition?

My favorite memory of Maryvale would have to be the musicals. Musical season was always my favorite, and it was always something I shared with my friends. I think the experiences in all four musicals gave me confidence and helped me become the person I am today.

Video Yearbook is another one of my favorite traditions from Maryvale. Putting that together every year really contributed to my passion for filming and editing and also storytelling. Getting to see the finished product at Moving Up Day was always a moment of pride for my friends and I.

My experiences at Maryvale, especially my heavy involvement in clubs and activities, truly helped me throughout post-graduation. I gained leadership skills, social skills, and had a better idea of what I wanted to be involved in throughout college and beyond. I will always be grateful for the teachers who helped me, believed in me, and served as such great mentors at such a pivotal time in my life. I also made some of my best friends at Maryvale, and I’ll always remember the good times we had in high school. My memories of Maryvale are very fond ones and I’ll always cherish the time I spent there.

Favorite Maryvale Teachers/Administrators Staff:

Erik Keller, Wendy Kubiak, Marie Buchanan (past), Adam Norris, Scott Root, Jessica Budzynski (past)

After graduating from Maryvale in 2015, I attended The College at Brockport, SUNY. During my time at Brockport, I did internships at News 4 WIVB-TV, Spectrum News in Rochester, and CNN in Washington D.C. I received my Bachelor of Science in Journalism and Broadcasting in December 2018. After graduating, I landed an on-air reporting job at News 8 WROC-TV in Rochester. Each day, I go out and gather stories, write them, and report them live on TV. I am truly enjoying telling the stories of the Rochester community and growing personally and professionally in the process!
