Due to the uncertainty of both the weather and air quality for tomorrow, 6/9, we are rescheduling the Primary School Field Day to next week Thursday, 6/15. While the air quality might be in an acceptable range tomorrow, we would not be able to make that determination until early tomorrow morning. To allow enough time to make other arrangements should we need to cancel, the determination was made today to reschedule the date. If you were scheduled to volunteer tomorrow, your child’s classroom teacher or a PTO member will be reaching out to you to see if you are still able to volunteer your time next Thursday. Thank you in advance for your support and flexibility with this change.

Good morning Maryvale Primary Families
Western New York is dealing with air quality issues today due to the Canadian wildfires.
The air quality index is forecasted to be at 140 today, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups such as young children and people with asthma or sensitivity to air pollution.
As a result, we are going to move all outdoor activities indoors today, including PE classes, playground trips and recess.
The Kindergarten field trip to the farm today will be cancelled and we will try to reschedule it.
Here is the guidance language from the NYSDOH:
Given the diminished air quality levels we are seeing across much of the state, due to the wildfires in Canada, the New York State Department of Health recommends that New Yorkers limit strenuous outdoor activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects. People who are especially sensitive to the effects of elevated levels of pollutants, including the very young and those with pre-existing respiratory problems such as heart disease or asthma, should avoid spending time outdoors, if possible. Those who experience symptoms or have symptoms that worsen should consider consulting their personal physician.
