Vaccine Clinic Survey Update

11/3/21

Dear Maryvale Parents and Guardians,

I want to provide you an update about the results of our recent survey regarding the Erie County Department of Health (DOH) Vaccination Clinic for children ages 5-11.

136 parents, out of 270 total responses, indicated that they would register their children for a COVID-19 vaccine if the DOH held a clinic in one of our buildings.  The data also shows our parents prefer a clinic held outside of school hours.

Since the DOH requested that all Erie County school districts survey their communities about this topic, my duty was to collect that information and to get it to the Department of Health so that they can coordinate the clinic from this point forward.

From here, our role is only to provide the community all of the information about the clinic that we receive from the DOH.

I want to be clear that I believe that the choice to vaccinate a child for COVID-19 should rest directly in the hands of each and every parent.

I encourage all parents to discuss this issue with their child's pediatrician and from there, to make the decision they feel is best for their child.

Thank you for your time and for being partners with us for the benefit of all of our children.

Sincerely,

Joseph D'Angelo, Superintendent
