English as a New Language / English Language Arts

  • Welcome to English Language Learning!

The English as a New Language program is designed to assist students from other countries. The ENL teachers help students learn the English language, adjust to a new culture and their new school environment, and succeed in their classes. The ENL teachers strive to work with all teachers and the families of our students in order to build a strong home-school connection.

  • Our English language learners are responsible for learning English as well as learning content area subject matter simultaneously.  Due to the nature of NYS graduation requirements, it is important that the students work as hard as they can, studying and showing initiative, so that together we can work toward success!

    Types of ENL Classes

ENL/ELA - follows the same curriculum as the ELA classes, but with extra scaffolds and at a modified pace.

ENL stand alone - focuses on building literacy skills.
