  • Dear Maryvale Community,

We are excited for the 2018-2019 school year and we thank you for the continuous support you give us to help us do our best for the students at Maryvale. As partners with us in your child's education, there is no limit to what we can accomplish for them together.

There are many exciting changes across the District for this school year that will affect everyone and I'd like to take some time to highlight them for you here.

    NEW BELL SCHEDULE

Our new bell schedule is posted here:  2018-2019 Bell Schedule

ALL STUDENTS ARE NOW ELIGIBLE FOR A HEALTHY BREAKFAST AND LUNCH AT NO CHARGE

The Maryvale School District is pleased to announce that we will be implementing a meal certification option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs for 2018-19.  This certification option is called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).  It means that all students enrolled at Maryvale are eligible to receive a healthy breakfast and lunch at school at no charge.  No further action is required of you.  However, you will receive a household income form/survey in the mail.  We ask that you complete and return the form in order to help the District secure other additional funding from grants and other resources as we continue to try and minimize our dependence on the local tax base.

Students wishing to buy a second breakfast, second lunch or ala carte items are encouraged to pre-pay for them.  Simply go to www.myschoolbucks.com, click register for an account, setup an account, and prepay with your credit card, debit card, or electronic check.  Please note there is a $1.95 fee charged by the company for each transaction.  Placing more money on your account at one time will minimize the cost of doing this online if you choose to do so.  Choosing to utilize “myschoolbucks” will allow you to monitor your purchase history and balances online.

The goal of the Maryvale School District Meal Program is to offer good nutrition to students and teach them healthy eating habits.  We hope the program also encourages students to eat well-balanced meals at home.

If you would like more information, please call the School Lunch Office at 631-7435 or Melinda Evans at 631-7485.

    NEW MAIN CAMPUS TRAFFIC PATTERN

Please note that when you drive onto the main campus this year, there is a new traffic pattern that you must follow.

    • Buses will now pickup and drop off students at the front of the IS/MS and HS.
    • The interior bus loop (front of the Binner, HS and MS) will be off limits to all traffic from 7:15AM- 8:30 AM and from 2:00PM- 3:30PM.  These times will be limited to Bus traffic only.
    • Parents wishing to drop off and pick- up students must follow the designated arrows painted on the pavement.  Traffic will flow one way during pickup and drop off times as follows:
      • IS and MS pickup and drop off:  Enter via Maryvale Drive and follow the Blue Arrows to drop off/pick up in the rear of the buildings (there is an option to continue to the HS to pickup and drop off another student).  Exit to Union Road near Tennis Courts.
      • HS pickup and drop off:  Enter via Union Road near Tennis Courts and follow the Yellow Arrows to drop off/ pick up at rear of the building.  Exit to Union Road near Tennis Courts.
      • During the times between 7:15AM- 8:30 AM and from 2:00PM- 3:30PM, the arrows must be followed and the only exit from campus will be near the tennis courts onto Union Road.
    • No students can be dropped off or picked up in the front of the buildings (flagpole side) unless they are arriving outside the times of 7:15AM- 8:30 AM or leaving outside the times of 2:00PM- 3:30PM
    • We will soon post a link to videos showing the correct way to proceed on campus and where to drop students off and pick them up.

    MAIN ENTRANCE SECURITY MEASURES

At our Primary, Intermediate and Middle Schools (places we do not have Door Monitors), for the safety of our children we have bolstered both the physical entrances and the procedures to get into our buildings during the day as follows:

    PRIMARY SCHOOL

    • The Primary School will now feature ALL areas inhabited by students completely sealed off from the main entrance once the school day begins
    • To enter the school, a visitor must first press the buzzer at the main entrance- which now features a camera- and be prepared to present ID.
    • Once allowed inside, the foyer will funnel people directly into the main office, where our staff will scan your ID into the Raptor system.
      • NO ONE will be allowed inside without presenting ID and having that ID scanned.
    • The clinic has been moved so that it is behind the sealed area and plans are being made to have children escorted to the main office rather than being picked up at the clinic if needed.
    • Parents dropping off medication or wishing to speak to the nurse can do so either before or after school in person, or via phone or email.

    INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL

    • To enter the school, a visitor must first press the buzzer- which now features a camera- and be prepared to present ID.
    • Visitors will first be buzzed into the foyer only.
    • Visitors will notice a new window cut into the foyer wall.  Visitors must present ID at the window for it to be scanned into Raptor.
    • Once allowed inside, visitors must proceed directly into the new main office in Room 111.
      • NO ONE will be allowed inside without presenting ID and having that ID scanned.
    • Parents dropping off medication or wishing to speak to the nurse can do so either before or after school in person, or via phone or email.

     MIDDLE SCHOOL

    • To enter the school, a visitor must first press the buzzer- which now features a camera- and be prepared to present ID.
    • Visitors will first be buzzed into the foyer only.
    • Visitors will notice a new window cut into the foyer wall.  Visitors must present ID at the window for it to be scanned into Raptor.
      • NO ONE will be allowed inside without presenting ID and having that ID scanned.
    • Once allowed inside, visitors must proceed directly into the main office.
    • Parents dropping off medication or wishing to speak to the nurse can do so either before or after school in person, or via phone or email.

     HIGH SCHOOL AND BINNER BUILDING

    • Our High School and Binner Building are the only buildings to feature Door Monitors.
    • To enter the school, a visitor must first press the buzzer- which now features a camera- and be prepared to present ID.
      • NO ONE will be allowed inside without presenting ID and having that ID scanned.
    • Visitors will be buzzed in and must proceed to the Door Monitor, who will scan ID into Raptor and direct a person where to go.
    • Parents dropping off medication or wishing to speak to the nurse can do so either before or after school in person, or via phone or email.

We thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation in helping to keep our students safe!
