Regents Chemistry

  • Regents Chemistry - The Physical Setting

    Course Description

Regents Chemistry is designed to familiarize the high school student with:

    • the composition, properties, and structure of matter
    • the changes which matter undergoes, and
    • the energy accompanying those changes.

The goals of this course are:

    • to instill problem-solving skills
    • to encourage an appreciation for the chemical world around us, and
    • to create an interest in future chemical study.

The  Regents Chemistry schedule consists of five class periods and one lab session per five day cycle.  The hands-on lab activities reinforce the concepts studied in class lecture.  Students needing a Regents sequence in science elect this course.  As a final assessment, all students will take the Regents Examination in Chemistry: The Physical Setting.
