Maryvale was awarded a 21st Century Community Learning Center (21st CCLC) grant. The grant allows us to create an after-school program free of charge for our Primary and Intermediate students, Kindergarten through 5th grade.

    It Includes:

    • Academic enrichment activities that can help students meet state and local achievement standards.
    • A broad array of additional services designed to reinforce and complement the regular academic program, such as: drug and violence prevention programs, counseling programs, art, music, and recreation programs, technology education programs, and character education programs.
    • Literacy and related educational development services to the families of children who are served in the program.

    Maryvale Program Details

    The program runs after-school from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Primary (5:15 p.m. Parent Pickup)  and 2:55 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Intermediate School (5:15 p.m. Parent Pickup).

    Attendance Requirements:

     - Students can be dismissed earlier than stated    PS 5:15     IS 5:30

    - Students must be IN PROGRAM a minimum of 3 days - partial days included

       please be mindful of...

     - over the course of the 8-month program, a student cannot miss more than 150 hours in total

    -  The program runs Monday to Friday with our Maryvale faculty working collaboratively with YMCA.

The FREE program runs October 1st  to May 31st but families can still receive after-school services in September and in June for a charge during those months from the YMCA.

The program mixes academics, nutritious snacks, enrichment services and leisure sessions.

The use of 21st CCLP hopes to improve test scores, increase proficiency gaps, better school attendance and continue a child’s harmonious school attitude.

We are an enrichment program not child-care based. A child-care program pertains to the child partaking in semi-structured events. Our program runs with many certified teachers and highly qualified staff. We run by schedule and offer a program that allows the child to work with his or her body and mind. We echo many school concepts as we are an extension of the school day.

What is the purpose? Our purpose is to create community learning centers that provide academic enrichment and youth development opportunities for children grades K-5. Families can receive ideas for literacy and related educational development.

Your child will attend program based on the school they are assigned for the school day.  Bussing can be provided for students who need transportation. Families can choose their own transportation on a consistent basis. Families cannot alternate between bussing and family vehicles. The program runs daily with the exception of school holidays and closures.

      ==========================================

IMPORTANT:  Closing Due to Inclement Weather

    Snow Man

If After-School activities are cancelled for Maryvale UFSD, 21st Century is cancelled as well.

The District will send out an automated call/text alert.  Closing information will also be on Channel 2, 4 & 7.

Students will be dismissed at their regular dismissal time, the way they would go home if not attending 21st Century (Bus or Pick Up).

We do close due to climate, general safety issues and for EMS/fire safety reasons. This is a reflection of what schools do across NYS that offer this program. We are an extension of the school day.   Please keep in mind that many area child-care centers also close for such events.

We ask that you be ready to pick-up your child in case of the aforementioned events or if the child is being bussed have a plan in place for your child.

Please keep in mind that we cannot keep a child for an extened amount of time. We need to enact closing plans at the schools.  The YMCA is our community partner, and they are no longer on grounds for these closure days.

This is for the safety of all parties.
