Welcome to English 11!!!! Please read the attached document to view the Class Contract that each student has read and signed. Students are expected to follow this contract.
*In January students will be taking the English Common Core Exam. Much of the curriculum between September and January will focus on reviewing and practicing for the exam. The exam itself is a skills-based test. That means the exam will test the ELA skills taught and practiced from ELA 9, 10, and 11. This exam is different from the other core class exams in June.
The Common Core Exam consists of 3 parts:
Part 1 - Reading Comprehension - based on 3 texts read during the exam and 24 multiple choice questions
Part 2 - Argumentative Essay - based on 4 texts read during the exam
Part 3 - Text Analysis Short Answer Question - based on creating a central idea and identifying a literary term used within 1 given text on the exam
